The International Organization for Standardization (ISO 14001:2015) is a standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS) that applies to all businesses, regardless of size, location or income. This standard aims to continually reduce the environmental footprint of a business and to decrease the pollution and waste a business produces.

As an active member of the MBMA Energy Committee, American Buildings is was ahead of the curve concerning energy efficient buildings. A manufacturer’s ability to design and produce buildings meeting energy criteria could well shape the future of that company and its Builders. As part of our Green Building initiative and to assist building owners in achieving LEED® points, American offers energy efficient systems such as daylighting with prismatic skylights and insulated metal panels.
As an ISO 14001:2015 certified manufacturer, American Buildings is dedicated to protecting our environment and reducing waste. Every teammate is responsible for environmental protection. We also require contractors, vendors and suppliers to comply with applicable environmental laws.
Achieving ISO 14001:2015 is a Rigorous Process
A company saying it is committed to environmental and sustainable concepts is one thing. Achieving ISO 14001:2015 certification it is quite another. American Buildings is committed to an effective environmental policy that helps us manage and reduce our impact on the world around us. That’s why we are proud to announce that all divisions have achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification.
In order for an organization to be awarded an ISO 14001:2015 certificate it must be externally audited by an accredited audit firm. For American Buildings, this rigorous, demanding process took a full year and included education and training for every team member. We invested more than 10,000 hours to ensure all four divisions would reach the goal. The process was challenging, to say the least, but an extremely worthwhile investment as it taught us how to better use resources and protect the environment.
